99 is not 100

Just before Christmas we finally booked a meeting with a real player in the integrated marketing space, an agency that we wanted to represent and include in our stable of awesome agencies, broadening the career scope for our candidates. We’re as ambitious as our candidates to work with the very best, and not having this agency as a partner was a little embarrassing.

After a thorough and uncompromising grilling by the HR Director, jaded by hyperbole and unfulfilled promises, we were told in no uncertain terms that she only gave agencies one chance.

So, with brief in hand, we retired to London Bridge and got on with the brief. Five months, five briefs & five placed candidates later, we have maintained a 100% placement record and are delighted to be fulfilling our promise. We’re grinning like cheshire cats!

All Hail Holler!

For the past 2 years or so, I’ve been helping Holler find awesome people to join their team. Any candidate who’s ever been on the receiving end of my spiel will know that I’m a pretty big fan. Not only do they produce fantastically creative work for some huge brands, but they’re also a really lovely (and amusing) bunch of people. Will, their Creative Director and Co-Founder, was recently filmed by Getty Images, talking about the agency, their work and some of his favourite projects. An awesome insight to Holler and proof that I really am telling the truth when I say have positions with some of the country’s best agencies!!

BBC London News on Future Cinema and “California Classics”

Last Saturday and Sunday one of our clients “Future Cinema” partnered up with Califirnia Tourism to transform Canary Wharf into a world of 80′s California for immersive screenings of The Lost Boys and Top Gun. Over 8000 people became Californians for the night and took part in the cinematic event of the year. We have heard amazing things about the event and that it was a great success. Big Pimpin’

Wow, that is a lot of pimping…innit? It would seem pimping multiple agencies into one is popular stuff, Iris previously pimped all their departments into one Iris. Similarly with Publicis pimping their offering by acquiring Chemistry. Now with Tim Westwood’s backing surely integration will be going on everywhere…sorry, I mean pimping. Whether that is pimping agency’s departments into one offering (Iris) or big groups pimping new businesses into their fold (Chemistry-Publicis) I think we’ll be seeing more and more of this going forward.

The video is certainly tongue in cheek and as with most things Tim Westwood says and does I was a little bemused but it was a bit of fun. It does seem to have missed the mark with one You Tube user though who has uploaded the video with the rather uncomplimentary title “The worst advertising agency promotion ever”. I’d say that was rather harsh and one user who commented on the video sums up my feelings better by calling it ‘brilliantly bad’.
